Finally: A Fashion Podcast

Ever since Serial burst onto the podcast scene, I’ve been hooked on the medium. I start every morning with a more serious dose of news (On Point with Tom Ashbrook) and my podcast nightcap is something a little more upbeat (like KCRW’s The Treatment or How Did This Get Made?).

While there seem to be a vast number of podcasts about things I am passionate about (Twin Peaks, the Middle East, true crime), there are very few podcasts about fashion. (The one exception is this podcast by Glamour, in which notable guests share the outfits they wore during memorable life events.)

There’s a huge gap in the podcast world for a smart discussion about style and its implications for the culture at large. And I am incredibly excited to announce that my friends and I have created Follow The Thread, the first and only podcast that undresses fashion, style, and culture in all of their permutations.

The gang behind Follow The Thread includes Rachel D., a Boston attorney, improv performer and bargain hunter extraordinaire and Amanda Jordá, a trained fashion designer. Together, the three of us dissect fashion’s real-world consequences in the colliding realms of feminism, business and celebrity.

Below, I’ve included links to our first three episodes. Please note that these are “Off the Rack” — meaning they are early iterations of the podcast as we test topics and formats. (The official launch of Follow the Thread will be Fall 2015.)

I am so excited to share these first few podcasts — and please let us know what topics you think we should be tackling next!

Rachel, Diana, and Amanda talk about Amal Clooney, Kim Kardashian, and Olivia Palermo in the service of clarifying the differences between Style Icons, It Girls, and Muses.

Rachel, Diana, and Amanda talk about J Crew, Preppiness, and the fashion preferences of elites.

Rachel, Diana, Amanda, and Ryan talk about Marc Jacobs, diffusion lines, MbyMJ, and eating hot dogs in Rodarte dresses.
