Blazers are obviously an everyday part of the office uniform, but I’ve been trying them for loads of more casual looks, particularly now that the weather is still trying to make up its mind.
Lately, I’ve been focusing on the collarless jackets in my closet, which seem less starchy and formal than the lapel-licious versions.
In the interest of adhering to the “mixing high and low” principles of fashion blogging’s religion, I paired my secondhand Chanel collarless blazer with a cheapie $25 uniform shirt from H&M. (This is literally the same type of shirt I wore in middle school — wish I had kept the old ones!)
The inspiration for this look? Carrie Bradshaw’s brunch look from the Season 3 episode, “Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman.”
The key is the collar peeping out of the blazer’s neckline. (So much more striking than the same collar emerging out of a sweater, right?) Next, I want to try this with a pussycat bow blouse.
The irony inherent in making this relaxed look really work? You’ll need to literally button up (the blazer, that is). Collarless blazers can flop around without the usual lapels, so button up for the perfect line around the neck.
