This latest manicure was a bit of an accident. I had planned a tribal design, but my favorite nail art pens were dry as a bone. I improvised and came up with this design. It reminds me of a Cub Scout uniform, which I suppose is summer appropriate? With the camping and the outdoors? (Okay, that’s a stretch.)
I did the nude base a few days ago, so all I needed was white and black polish for the rest of the design. Here are the supplies:
This manicure is as easy as painting a few lines and waiting for everything to dry. First, start with your base coat and follow with your nude color of choice. Wait for this bottom layer to dry thoroughly before continuing. (I waited a couple of days so I could enjoy the simplicity of the nude color.) The rest of the steps are below.
1. Paint a white “frenchy” tip across the top of the nail. I paint a fairly thick line.
2. Paint a thinner black stripe across the top of the thick white tip.
3. Outline a messy triangle with the black brush. Perfection is overrated, so I just draw two diagonal lines and let them overlap.
4. Fill IN the black triangle completely with the black polish. (Step not illustrated.)
5. Dap a drop of the white paint inside the black triangle.
Swipe on your top coat, and you’re done. Because you’ve loaded a lot of paint onto the tip of the nail, be cognizant of any accidental smudging for the first hour of drying. Have a great weekend, and may your manicure stay chip-free!
