There’s a special kind of decadence in a 3-day weekend. I split my time between the city and New Jersey, yet never felt rushed
Most of my meals were ice cream or BBQ and every day was filled with long, lazy walks. I love summer for its uncomplicated rhythm, and my outfits are just an extension of that simplicity.
Because it’s usually cold in NYC, I try not to spend a lot of money on warm-weather clothes. These shorts (affectionately known as jorts at my alma mater, the University of Florida) were a complete steal from Target — and all the better, since I don’t ever want to worry about ruining them with grass stains. Meanwhile, the sandals were another bargain — a consignment find from last summer (worn here and here).
The shirt, which I bought in San Diego on a business trip earlier this month, was a little pricier, although it’s currently on sale here. Because the shirt is sheer, it’s best layered with a bathing suit, or colorful under-layers for the weekend and a white tank and blazer for the office.
Side note: Since this is the most skin I’ve shown in months, I slathered myself in two different TanTowel products, so I could get a head-start into tanning season. (I used these towelettes and this self-tanner mist.)
Overall, I was happy with the results – even if they were a little patchy on my legs — but warning: do NOT over-use the product on your face. I applied the product twice over the weekend and wound up looking like a Cheeto. (The effect was mitigated by the gallon of corrective BB cream I am wearing in these photographs.)
Tell me how you’re welcoming the warmer weather! Any favorite pieces you wear summer after summer?
